Hired Extern Paperwork
Externs who have been placed with a judicial officer need to complete the following items:
- Complete and Return Human Resources Paperwork for Background Check
All externs must complete a criminal background check. Externs who will be on-site must be fingerprinted to receive an identification badge to enter court buildings and access the judicial officer’s offices. At least two weeks prior to the externship start date, please complete and return the following two forms to your judicial officer:
Extern Start-Up Sheet (return to judicial officer)

- Confirm your school requirements for academic credit.
If you are receiving academic credit for your judicial externship, confer with your college / law school to determine the requirements to receive academic credit (including but not limited to the following: an externship contract; minimum hours requirement; written work product; written evaluations). Communicate with your judicial officer regarding these requirements at the beginning of your externship.
